What is robert benmosche?

Robert Benmosche (1944-2015) was an American business executive who served as the CEO of American International Group (AIG) from 2009 to 2014. Prior to his appointment at AIG, Benmosche held executive positions at several other insurance companies, such as MetLife and PaineWebber Group.

During his tenure at AIG, Benmosche played a critical role in stabilizing the company, which was on the verge of bankruptcy during the financial crisis of 2008. He implemented a series of restructuring measures, including asset sales and cost-cutting measures, which helped AIG repay its government bailout loans ahead of schedule.

Benmosche was known for his unconventional leadership style and direct communication with employees and stakeholders. He was also an outspoken critic of government regulations that he believed were stifling the insurance industry.

In addition to his professional career, Benmosche was a philanthropist and a supporter of education and the arts. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2014 and passed away a year later at the age of 70.
